Where has the time gone? I can not believe that I am sitting here writing my last President’s letter for the 07/08 season of the ABNN. I’d like to take this time to thank all the board members starting with the Vice-President, soon to be President, Alison Clement. Alison has done an amazing job as VP and I know she will continue all her hard work and efforts as the President; our fantabulous Treasurer, Ms. Leah Russell, who made sure we always stayed within our budget for the year; the “Do I really need to write that in the minutes?” Melanie Kilburn. I always look forward to reading the minutes from Melanie as she managed to keep us laughing with her incredible sense of humor; our Membership GURU – Kathy Kennedy-Brown – has once again outdone herself with handling all of the aspects of membership (which includes the directory!); without our Special Events leader, Jeannine Sterns, our big events throughout the year would not have been possible – thank you Jeannine for all your efforts and timeless dedication; a new member this year has jumped in with both feet and done an amazing job for the club – Publicity Kim (or Pub Kim as we like to refer to her). Kim has taken Publicity to a whole new level this year and we have already seen great results with an increase in membership – way to go Kim and thank you for jumping in with both feet; and last, but certainly not least, our Past President, Shirlee Stein who has given guidance and advice to me whenever needed. This is an amazing group of ladies and I have enjoyed working with each and every one of you and thank each of you for all your time and energy that you give to this organization!!!
I’d also like to take this opportunity to thank all our Interest Group leaders. Without them the club would not be able to have the events that we have each and every month. Susan Spector – Book Group; Peggy Molander – Dining In; Shirlee Stein – Dining Out; Laura Wordsworth, Alison Clement and Kim Montella – Ladies Night Out; Alison Clement and Melanie Kilburn – Lunch Bunch; Luc Clement - Webmaster; and Erik Molander – Wine Tasting. Thank you all for doing an outstanding job and keeping this club socially active. I truly appreciate all your efforts.
And finally, I’d like to thank all the members for your participation in the organization and have enjoyed getting to know you. On that note, I look forward to seeing most, if not all, of you at the end of the year BBQ on Saturday, June 14th (read on for details).

You are invited to join us for the annual summer BBQ!
The BBQ is on Saturday, June 14th at 7:00pm at the home of Alison and Luc
Clement (111 Stow Street, Acton) - this year's theme is Flag Day! We will
feature a good old American-style BBQ complete with hot dogs and
hamburgers. You are invited to bring along a salad, side dish or dessert
that represents your heritage. Please let us know what you plan to bring.
Dress for this 'adults only' event is casual, but please feel free to wear
something that represents your heritage. Also, if you have any flags (not
US, we have plenty) that you'd like to bring along and display, we'd love to
see them! Please be sure to RSVP by June 7th thru e-vite,
which has already been sent to you.
As always, this event is BYOB. If you plan to drink alcoholic beverages, please
plan to have a designated driver.
Please join us on Saturday, July 12th from 6 to 9pm at the home of Sue and Rob Huson, 68 Taylor Road, Acton for a summer sampling of Wines and Beers. More details to follow via e-vite in the next few weeks. If you have any questions please contact Erik Molander at epmolander@gmail.com.

Our Book Group ends its year with a BOOK SWAP/BOOK DONATION, and all members of AB Newcomers and Neighbors are invited! So gather your unwanted books that are collecting dust (children’s books too), and either swap them for something new, or donate to the Acton and Boxboro libraries.

June Lunch Bunch! A Special Treat!
There’s nothing finer than getting that tax refund check in the mail…or IS there? How about FREE lunch at Vincenzo’s Restaurant (1200 Main Street)in West Concord?? The FREE lunch will be hosted by Kim Riggs of Ameriprise Financial Group. She will be offering FREE financial planning advice for approximately 10 minutes (between the time you place your order and the time you are served). She will also leave materials behind so you can contact her privately if you so choose…there is absolutely NO OBLIGATION other than to enjoy Vincenzo’s traditional Italian fare, perhaps a glass of Chianti, and a nice afternoon out. The lunch is scheduled for Tuesday, June 10th @ 11:45 am (please be prompt!) for our group of up to 15 people…whether you got a refund check or not! Remember, once the lunch is served, Kim’s quick presentation will end. Please RSVP ASAP by June 8th to lunch@abnewcomers.org or call Alison @ 978-841-9944 as we are limited to the first 15 people! Let’s have lunch and learn a bit … and remember to leave your wallet at home unless you plan on ordering an appetizer, alcohol, and/or dessert!”
